The introduction of Café Church to St Bart's a couple of years ago has certainly enabled our church in Church Minshull to grow our congregation. Due to its success we wanted to share what we do with other churches in the Diocese who are maybe struggling with decreasing congregations as we were, by looking at 'Fresh Expressions of Worship'.
With that aim we decided to hold a one day Café Church course on Saturday 4th November at St Bart's from 10.30am to 1.30pm. Every church in the Diocese was invited and we were pleased to welcome 17 delegates representing 10 churches from as far away as Meols on the Wirral and Macclesfield, plus more closer to home from Crewe and Sandbach. We also had the Diocesan Mission officer in attendance.
The course program included;
· Introduction
· What is Café Church,
· What we do in St Bart's; Why and how we started and where we are going in the future,
· We held a full Café Church Service theme 'God Welcomes Allsorts'
· Hints and tips
· Q&A
· Closing prayer
As always there were lots of our delicious Cakes and Coffees plus a Hot Pot lunch followed by Apple crumble and custard.
We had some wonderful feedback – and would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to all who helped make the day such a success.
