ARENA is owned and managed by Church Minshull Parish Council and the content is provided and coordinated by volunteers from the council and the broader community.
The parish has been lucky in having had a website for a number of years through the enthusiasm and endeavours of a very small number of individuals. In 2012 the Parish Council took the initiative and grasped the opportunity to expand on that good work. The objectives were to make use of advances in publishing tools and to embrace the broader engagement with the digital world for social interaction and communication. The concept of ARENA is to create a place to join up our community and build on the impact that the M.E.G. (Minshull Events Group) team has achieved to increase awareness of existing activities and initiatives in our area but also to enable new ideas to be developed and communicated more easily, hence the name – ARENA.
One of the ideas for ARENA is that given that Church Minshull and the neighbouring parishes are quite small, by possibly involving a broader community with the website, then both the number of events and scope for interesting content, could be increased and the costs and work involved could be shared. This was another reason for not branding the site specifically to Church Minshull.
Funding the origination of this site was achieved almost entirely through an Awards For All community grant. The Parish Council continues seek support and sources of funds to cover the ongoing licensing charges and to enable the facility to support the community, individuals, groups and our businesses.
The editorial team continue to strive to expand and improve the news and other content and welcome feedback and ideas. They would also be interested to hear from anyone who have possible ideas for articles.
