Cheshire East Local Plan & Leighton Housing Expansion

As a Church Minshull village resident, you need to be aware of the Cheshire East Local Plan consultation and the latest Leighton planning application.

It is suggested that residents respond to both the Local Plan consultation and the Leighton planning application.

Cheshire East Local Plan – Scoping Consultation

Over the next few years, Cheshire East is looking to secure planning for additional housing in Leighton, West Crewe and including Church Minshull, and other areas across Cheshire East.

Although still a consultation currently, the proposals could potentially lead to a housing development on the large field behind St Bart’s Church, the Badger Inn and Weaver View, as well as land to the east of the village, on the hill overlooking the Weaver Valley, extending towards the canal and behind Eardswick Woods. For our small community, the impact could be less than desirable.

Leighton – Proposed Housing Expansion (Planning Application)

Cheshire East Planning is seeking consultation responses to the proposed housing expansion to the west and north of Leighton Hospital.

Planning application 26/2711/OUT is for up to 2,100 dwellings at Leighton, Crewe.

The Church Minshull Parish Council will be submitting strong objections to both the Cheshire East Local Plan and the Leighton housing expansion, due to the scale of development, cumulative impacts alongside existing and proposed housing developments, and the adverse effects on the historic village of Church Minshull and its surrounding environment.

The more people who make a representation, the stronger our community’s voice will be.
