Antoinette Sandbach MP, has passed on the following information regarding HS2

New Consultations

Antoinette informs us that HS2 has recently launched two consultations relating to the Phase 2b route between Crewe and Manchester.

The consultations are seeking feedback on:

  • The Working Draft Environmental Statement;
  • (WDES), which provides a more detailed description of the construction and operation of Phase 2b, describes the likely significant environmental effects of the proposed scheme and the measures which HS2 intends to take to mitigate these effects and;
  • The Working Draft Equality Impact Assessment Report (WDEQIA) which considers the potential effects of the construction and operation of HS2 Phase 2b on groups protected under the Equality Act 2010.

Both consultations close at 23:45 hours on 21 December 2018.

The draft Environmental Statement includes more detailed reports and maps relating to the construction and operation of Phase 2b than have previously been released by HS2. Antoinette is therefore strongly encouraging you to take part in these consultations to ensure that concerns or issues with the designs or proposals are taken into consideration as HS2 develop and finalise the Phase 2b scheme.

Public Information Events

HS2 are holding a series of public information events where you will be able to talk to staff from HS2 and the Department of Transport about the consultations, ask questions and find out more about HS2's proposals for the area.

Antoinette wanted us to know that, at present, HS2 have failed to arrange an event in Eddisbury. She has therefore made a formal complaint to HS2 regarding this failure, especially as she informs us that she has repeatedly raised the lack of effective local engagement with HS2. She has also brought the matter to the attention of the Minister, Nus Ghani, who is raising it with HS2.

Antoinette expects HS2 to organise an event in Eddisbury shortly and will publicise the details once known.

In the meantime, these are the other information events taking place in the local area:

Need to Sell Scheme

Antoinette met with the Transport Secretary, Chris Grayling, last week to raise her concerns that the acceptance rate for applications under the Need to Sell Scheme for Phase 2b remains unacceptably low with only 31% of applications being accepted by HS2.
Mr. Grayling has agreed to look into the matter so Antoinette will be writing to him again, setting out the difficulties being experienced by those who have applied under the scheme.
As such, if you have been experiencing difficulties with the Need to Sell Scheme but have not ready been in touch with Antoinette, she is eager to hear from you. Please contact Mark Bowman in her Westminster office using the details below.

Forthcoming HS2 Meeting

Antoinette will be meeting with HS2 in a couple of weeks' time. If you have any issues or concerns that you would like raised, please let her know using the details below.
