The Church Minshull audience were treated to Peter McQueen's fabulous interpretation of 'Old Herbaceous' in the village hall on Friday night.
The venue was transformed into an old greenhouse by an intricate set and when the lights went down, the audience was immediately drawn into an era and a period, when service and servitude was deemed to be a privilege.
Herbert Pinneger (Old Herbaceous) recounted his memories of a lifetimes work in the service of Lady Charteris and of his regret of not being able to do 'his bit' in the war, due to a problem with his leg.
Peter McQueen's adaption consisted of two – 1 hour scenes of constant script, which was an incredible feat of memory in anyone's books, as he mesmerised everyone with his west country accented, storytelling.
