Middlewich Branch Canal Reopens

Further overnight polution from the pipe at Hoolsgrave Bridge 11 resulted in the canal being closed for most of a second day. SUMBA's volunteers were again at Middlewich and Barbridge advising boaters on the current situation and alternative routes.

By mid pm CRT's contractors had sufficiently cleaned the canal for the closure notices to be removed. By 4:00pm boats were being escorted through the affected length. The canal will officially reopen at 10:00am on Sunday.
