St Bartholomew's Church delivered a poignant and thought provoking service in remembering the service men and women, who paid the ultimate price, in far off theatres of sacrifice.
Cadets from the local British Legion, were standard bearers and set a sobering tone, dressed in service uniform.
Church Wardens John Headon and Chris Challoner chose the most appropriate passages and hymns, whilst Tim Hough reminded us of the local names lost in various conflicts and Peter Lakin, delivered a moving reading.
Sandra Wallis and some members of the 'Sing for Fun' group, sang a delightful cover of the 'Requiem for a Soldier' song, whilst the spiritual tune of 'Nimrod', brought the 11 chimes of Big Ben, to the two-minute silence.
