There has been quite a bit of concern over the impact of planned HS2 developments locally and there will be an HS2 Information Event to be held at the Winsford Academy on Saturday 23rd September should you wish to find out more, share your views and ask questions of HS2 Ltd.
Antionette Sandwich has provided an update on her recent activity in the House of Commons last Wednesday 6th Sept regarding HS2. The debate was titled 'the route of phase 2B of HS2 to Manchester and Leeds' in which she raised a number of concerns around the effect the route will have here in her Eddisbury constituency. Below is an edited version of her message:
"I raised my concerns and those of many of my constituents on the location of the Western Leg Rolling Stock Depot currently proposed for Wimboldsley including the impact on Wimboldsley Primary School and the local community. I also challenged the Government on the realignment of the route in Cheshire by 800m to the West which will significantly increase risks associated with building on wet rockhead land. In addition to this I raised the issue of adequate compensation for those affected by the project.
I hope this shows how important this issue is to me and I will continue to press the Government and HS2 Ltd to ensure my constituents are listened to throughout this whole process.
As you'll see from both mine and colleagues contributions to the debate there have been a number of concerns raised around the engagement of HS2 Ltd with the local community. Therefore I would like to draw attention to a HS2 Information Event taking place at the Winsford Academy and would strongly advise you all to go and make your views heard but also allow you to raise your own questions with HS2 Ltd.
I would also be grateful if any constituents who live within 1km of the line of the route could let me know if they have not received leaflets as I will raise this directly with HS2 Ltd if this is the case.
In the meantime if you have any specific issues or concerns relating to HS2 please do not hesitate to contact me on antoinette.sandbach.mp@parliament.uk."
