Church Minshull once again pulled off a fantastic scoop, by winning Cheshire Pride's 'Community Spirit Award' for a second time in 24 months. The category, for communities with a population of less than 5000, received the highest entrant level ever, since Cheshire Community Action started the scheme.
This was one of the top awards of the evening, earning Church Minshull the prestigious title, a plaque, certificate and £100 cheque! Jean Jones, one of our more recent residents and Kerry Bannon, Chair CM Vision, proudly accepted the award on behalf of our village.
Runners-up this year were Tattonhall, however, the head judge – Kathy Benn MBE – stated that it had been a real struggle to separate a number of entrants in the category, but ultimately, there was only one clear winner – Church Minshull. Look out for the Cheshire Life article in November's edition.
This recognition only serves to underpin what we already know in our village...we have a great community spirit. So this award is for all people who get involved; for everyone who says Hi, in the street; for the volunteers in groups; for the various committee members; for those who organise activities; for everyone who supports things such as local plays, by their attendance; for those who give up their free time; and the many more gestures of goodwill that go to enrich the local spirit, and make Church Minshull...a better place to be...
So well done everyone...we all deserve it ...and county think so too..!
