Has anyone else received a letter through the post about a supposed free app called Nextdoor Church Minshull? It includes a website address and a download code to join (which expires in 7 days). I am EXTREMELY dubious about it as nobody has mentioned anything about such a thing. If it is something that the village is organising, then why not advertise it on this site? That is my reasoning. If I don't hear anything in a couple of days I shall report it to the police!

Can anyone recommend a wedding cake maker. My daughter is looking for someone who can make a 3 tier cake for 100-120 people for 20/8/21.
Thank you

There is only a very narrow footpath into the village from our house and we have been walking it regularly during lockdown. It's been lovely to access the beautiful local countryside and chat to villagers along the way. In recent months though we have noticed a significant increase in the number of large vehicles passing through the village and it has made us increasingly nervous as they fly passed you at speeds in excess of 30 mph and wing mirrors miss you by a whisker!! At times the wagons and tractors mount the pavement as the road isn't wide enough to accommodate them.
Last week while I was walking along the pavement a large wagon drove a few hundred yards along the pavement just in front of me- had anyone been walking towards it I dread to think what might have happened. You can see by the state of the pavement and the grassy banks throughout the village that wagons driving beyond the width of the road is a frequent occurrence. With some households now resorting to putting large stones/boulders out in a bid to prevent this from happening. The point is though, young children, dog walkers and anyone else for that matter are at increasing risk of being injured on the pavements. We know the issues regarding the road have been previously raised and traffic calming measures put in place, but to be honest the road seems to be getting worse and we're not on our own in thinking that having spoken to others in the village.
Passing through our neighbouring village we've noticed their traffic calming measures seem to be very evident with more frequent and highly visible speed signs, new wider pinch points and we've also seen speed guns in use recently. We know this doesn't address the large vehicles on pavement issues and the dangers this presents in our village, but if the traffic calming measures here were improved, it might encourage the wagons to take an alternative route and slow traffic down.
I guess we just want everyone to feel safe walking through the village, but unfortunately we don't at the moment.

We have just read Eleanor's project . It is fantastic.
Well done Elli and a big thank you to John, Rachel and Nigel for all your support.
Hello Village friends,
I'm really liking the new sharper clean looks on the Arena website!
I know that migrating to the upgraded platform v2 has been necessary to ensure we have continued support of the website providers going forwards.
A big thanks and shout out for all the efforts of the local support team especially – PJ Jones (Editor) and ThenMedia (Toby & John).
Well done guys!
Best regards
