Diamond Jubilee celebrations in Church Minshull got under way on Thursday, 31st May, 2012, with the Youth Club arranging a specially designed Jubilee menu in which The Badger kitchen, kindly gave access to the kids to cook and bake their celebratory dishes.

Saturday, saw the start of the CM Vision Group's 3-day organised events, with St. Bartholomew's Church putting on a fantastic display of local history and Royal memorabilia. For those who missed this wonderful exhibition, there may be another chance to view it a later date. On Saturday evening the CM Vision Group, in conjunction with the Aqueduct Marina organised an al-fresco evening of dance and live music from the Jaks band. This was very well attended and lasted into the early hours of Sunday morning.

On Sunday, the children made their own crowns and paraded them in the village hall, along with a jubilee cake making competition, won by John Headon, who donated the prize of a very large chocolate bar to the jubilee Olympics. In the afternoon, the jubilee picnic took place in the village hall, whilst watching the Royal Pageant on a big screen, followed by the WI serving teas and scones.

Monday's events started with the races of jubilee Olympics, held on the field to rear of The Badger with scores of families, friends and children attending. The Badger put on a temporary bar and great barbeque. Participation of all ages in the events, ensured that everyone, even the spectators, had a wonderful time. Later in the evening, there was a fabulous light and royal film show, along with the stirring music of Pomp and Circumstance, Land of Hope and Glory, Jerusalem and many more, which got everybody' spirits up. The flagwaving, singing and merriment was topped off at 10:24pm precisely, when the beacon atop of St Bartholomew's bell tower, was lit to the sounds of God Save the Queen.

The feedback from all corners of the Church Minshull community has been phenomenal, with messages of congratulations and thanks pouring in.

The CM Vision Group, has written to each and every household to thank them for their support and participation, in making the Jubilee Celebrations an extraordinary success for the community and also to thank The Aqueduct for hosting the dance and The Badger for their generous donation to CM Vision.
